Earlier this year, Mötley Crüe returned to the studio to record three new songs, including an unexpected cover of the Beastie Boys “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).” Known for their successful covers like “Smokin’ in the Boys Room“, “Helter Skelter“, and “Anarchy in the UK“, the band surprised fans with this hip-hop/rap-rock twist. Tommy Lee shared his enthusiasm, stating,
“Wait until you hear it. It’s insane. While it’s not a full album, that could be a possibility in the future.“
One of the new tracks, “Dogs Of War,” is fully mixed and mastered, with its music video nearing completion. Lee excitedly remarked,
“For those jonesing for some new Crüe, people are going to bug out.”
Currently, there is no release date set for the trio of songs.
Guitarist John 5, whom officially joined the band following Mick Mars‘ retirement, has brought a fresh energy to the recording process. His guitar work on the new tracks has been described as “incredible” and adds a new dimension to the Crüe’s sound. John 5′s involvement isn’t his first with the band; he previously contributed to songs released as part of The Dirt soundtrack in 2019. Reflecting on the recording experience, John 5 shared, “It was like total old school, man… And it was maybe one of the best experiences I had recording. It was so fun. It was a blast”.

While Mötley Crüe continues to rock the music world, Mick Mars, the band’s co-founder and iconic guitarist, has embarked on his solo journey. Mars recently announced his debut solo album, “The Other Side Of Mars“, set to be released in February 2024. The album’s lead single, “Loyal To The Lie“, showcases Mars’ distinctive sound and artistic vision. Mars reflects on his unique style:
“I wanted to do something that was just big and mean.”
His solo effort explores various musical territories, from hard-rock anthems to modern metal and bluesy instrumentals.
Mars has collaborated with a talented team, including Winger and former Alice Cooper keyboardist Paul Taylor, and Korn drummer Ray Luzier. Reflecting on his career and future, Mars said, “I’m trying to keep growing… You have to keep moving and creating“. Despite his solo ventures, Mars remains an integral part of Mötley Crüe’s legacy.
