When the lights hit the ring, the video doesn’t ease in… it hits you like a UFC Heavyweight. Directed by drummer Zyon Cavalera, “No Pain = No Power” frames the song’s punishing groove against an MMA-style fight narrative. The setting is a gym and cage-fight arena, where struggle and endurance mirror the song’s core message. As riffs crash and fists fly, Soulfly make it clear that pain, for them, is both the cost and the currency of power.

The release and the players

The new single features a small army of heavy hitters. Alongside Cazares, who adds his signature machine-tight rhythm guitar, the track includes Gabriel Franco of Unto Others and Ben Cook of No Warning. Max Cavalera calls it “the ultimate guest song and video,” crediting Zyon for stepping up to script and direct for the first time.

Soulfy - Chama Featuring "No Pain = No Power"

SOULFLY – CHAMA

Chama finds Soulfly returning to their roots with unrelenting force. Featuring crushing rhythms and powerful themes of resistance, spirit, and ancestral strength, the album is a raw, driving testament to Soulfly’s legacy

The video was filmed earlier this year and premiered on October 24, 2025. Also the same day Chama dropped via Nuclear Blast. The song extends the album’s themes of endurance and defiance, adding fight-ring imagery to match the message.

Zyon’s directorial debut

“This is the first time Zyon wrote a script and directed a Soulfly music video” Max Cavalera told Blabbermouth. “He took this album and video to the next level”. The younger Cavalera’s direction blends live performance cuts with real MMA fighters, including Nikolas Motta and Biaggio Ali Walsh, both appearing in training and ring scenes.

For Zyon, it’s a nod to growing up around both metal and mixed martial arts. “It feels like just yesterday watching UFC fights,” he said. “No Pain = No Power goes to show your dreams are not so far away.”

Heavy grooves meet industrial precision

Cazares’s guest appearance pushes the song’s rhythmic edge. His right-hand attack is tight, mechanical, & unmistakably Fear Factory. The result is pure propulsion. Max’s riffing still anchors everything in Soulfly’s tribal groove, but Dino’s tone adds a sharper industrial blade.

Gabriel Franco and Ben Cook’s guest vocals widen the track’s texture, layering melody and gang-chant energy over the low-end thunder. For longtime Soulfly fans, it’s a bridge between eras: the primal pulse of Primitive meeting the modern precision of 2020s groove metal.

The road ahead

Soulfly’s “Favela Dystopia” West Coast tour kicks off November 1 in Roswell, New Mexico. Expect “No Pain = No Power” to be a live highlight, with its chant-ready chorus and feral tempo built for crowd response. The band has hinted that behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot will surface soon, offering a closer look at Zyon’s directorial debut and the fighters featured.

With Chama now in the wild, Soulfly close out their third decade of records still chasing something raw. If “No Pain = No Power” is any measure, they’ve found it.

“No Pain = No Power” is streaming now on YouTube and all major platforms.
