David Lee Roth, the original lead singer of legendary rock act Van Halen, has expressed his readiness to join Sammy Hagar on his upcoming “Best of All Worlds Tour” in 2024. This tour, announced by Hagar last week, will be a tribute to Van Halen’s music and legacy, featuring a set list focused on Hagar’s time as the band’s second lead singer. The tour lineup includes founding Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, and drummer Jason Bonham.
During the announcement on The Howard Stern Show, Hagar extended an open invitation to Roth, stating, “If Alex Van Halen wants to jump up, if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on, motherfucker. You are welcome. This is about Van Halen.” Just a few short hours ago, Roth issued the following statement to Van Halen News Desk: “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”
The relationship between Hagar and Roth has been marked by public sparring since Hagar replaced Roth as Van Halen’s lead vocalist in 1985. After leaving the band in 1996 and rejoining briefly for a tumultuous tour in 2004, Roth returned to Van Halen in 2007 and remained until Eddie Van Halen’s passing in 2020. Despite their past conflicts, Roth and Hagar previously co-headlined a tour in 2002, though Roth often rebuffed Hagar’s attempts to share the stage.
Hagar’s “Best of All Worlds Tour” is set to commence on July 13 in West Palm Beach, promising to be a significant event for Van Halen fans, potentially featuring two of the band’s most influential vocalists sharing the stage once again.
